This year was my first year at the Vancouver Massive Technology Show. There was a lot of social media going on – courses on Twitter for business, the effect of social media on sales and marketing, BalckBerry tips, social media and corporate responsibility, and more.
I keep hearing people say how different this show was this year in comparison to the last few. Whatever the case, I liked it.
What I liked the most?
The networking side of it. It was great to catch up with a few friends, hear some great speakers, and make new connections.
Yes, I was able to attend some seminars. As expected, it was great to hear from Steve Jagger, Shane Gibson, Tris Hussey, and Kris Krug. If you’ve read some of my previous posts, you know I’ve heard from them before and probably will hear from them again – they always bring something good to the table.
Areas for improvement? The location. Sorry, but Robson Square felt like a nuclear bunker.
And then there was the Massive 2009 after party…
There weren’t many left with the energy to party after the day’s marathon, but we were a nice crowd. Kudos to all of you who came out for a couple (or a dozen) drinks.
Eventually, I’m now participating in the last unadvertised event, Massive 2009 Hangover 🙁
I can’t end this post before giving a massive thanks to my good friend and, ahem, Ph.D. candidate at the London School of Economics, Laureano Ralon for inviting me to the event; Shane Gibson for sharing an extra pass for the after party; and whoever bought me the first beer at Doolin’s !
Shane Gibson says
Good to see you again too. @chrisbreikss was the generous person who bought us our first round and @doolins bought you the shot!
Jose Uzcategui says
Aha, let’s extend the Massive thanks to Chris Breikss for that first beer and Doolin’s Irish Pub for that first shot! (Yes, Doolin’s an Irish pub and yes, they’re on Twitter.)
Thanks Shane!
