Vancouver Meetup of Meetups 09 – #yvrmeetups

Last Wednesday Ceili’s Pub witnessed the Meetup of Meetups, a.k.a. the Mother of All Meetups, a.k.a. #yvrmeetup, and 3 floors were not enough to hold the 700+ people who RSVPed.

Surely not everyone who RSPVed attended, but there were so many people that it was hard to move around. Of course, that didn’t stop most of us to talk with all the cool people there.

I arrived at Ceili’s Pub at around 6:45 to find the place already packed. I head to the third floor to find @monicahamburg and @netchick trying to welcome the flood of people and give out the “Hello My Name Is” stickers. These women were incredible – Monica, Tanya, you guys should try to enjoy a Meetup, they’re fun!

Then I have a beer and talk to a few people, I come across @beckbligh and @providentmike, say hello;  take a few steps and meet @sjagger and @shanegibson, “hello;” then @fantasy_art, @VancouverBOT, @rodneyb, “hello!”… I look for @outsmarts, but she’s nowhere to be found.  And this is the part where I tell you, the reader, that if you’re not on Twitter, I don’t know who you are – almost.

I talked to so many great people, thank you all for the great conversation.

The talking continues and Shane Gibson takes the mic, calls the Meetup organizers to the front and welcomes everyone. Meetup organizers quickly introduce ourselves. The party continues.

The raffle comes up. I don’t win anything. But that’s okay, I just won an iPod Nano thanks to Latincouver.

I left early, but I know it went till late. Here’s some evidence.
