Two nights ago the Vancouver SEO Meetup brought together some of the most influential SEOs in Vancouver. This was the first SEO Meetup featuring a presenter, Alex Brabant from www.emarketing101.com, and he did a great job presenting about SEMPO Canada.
To be honest, I didn’t know what to expect for this meetup. Yet, I was impressed by…everything.
Attendance was good, around 18 people – considering we’re still in summer. I know once we hit fall and winter this number is going to grow, a lot. Even more, it was a good mix of SEOs – some knew a lot, some were just interested.
The presenter was great. Alex is very passionate about SEM and I always enjoy people talk about their passion. Plus, he has a unique personality that comes across in everything he does. He presented on the benefits, resources, and the purpose of the Search Engine Marketing Professional Association (SEMPO).
I’m a SEMPO believer, and I think the ones who get on board now will have a lot of influence in the future. For me, membership has already paid off; I’m going to be at IMC Vancouver manning the SEMPO booth in the morning and wondering around in the afternoon.
Ceili’s Irish Pub (careful, their site has very loud music) was a fantastic host. They had a room big enough to hold around 60 people – and yes, it was a bit too big for the amount of people who attended, but what can you do? They also helped setting up the computer to the projector they already have in place, and were courteous all the way. Seriously, A+ to Ceili’s Irish Pub. I really hope we’re able to book it again.
I took some pictures with my BlackBerry flip phone, they sucked. Next time I’ll bring my real camera.
