Two weeks ago I left my Internet Marketing Specialist position at Snaptech Marketing to join a conversion optimization firm called WiderFunnel as an Account Manager. I want to tell you about it.
Both Snaptech and WiderFunnel are solid companies. However, one of the biggest differences between the two, while Snaptech is a full service web design and internet marketing agency, WiderFunnel specializes on conversion optimization, nothing else.
(Conversion Optimization is the process of improving the percentages of visitors to a website that become sales leads and customers. There’s an article for Landing Page Optimization in Wikipedia that explains it well.)
My views on conversion optimization…
Conversion optimization is a growing trend. Businesses are realizing the importance of improving leads and sales from a website. Though it has always been part of what I do, I’ve realized that converting visitors is where I’ve had the most fun and where I’ve made the biggest impact with past clients.
Persuasion, design, strategy, tatistics, sales… they all apply when improving a site’s conversion rate – fascinating
The New Company – WiderFunnel
About a year ago I came across a blog post published by WiderFunnel’s CEO Chris Goward, The LIFT Model: The Six Landing Page Conversion Rate Factors. This post brought WiderFunnel to my personal “most watched companies to learn from” list. It was also of tremendous help in organizing the different ideas in my mind I knew helped convert.
Lastly, it is a great way to understand what this company does.
Beyond having a very efficient process for testing and effectively increasing conversions with experiments designed to produce statistically valid results in impressive time frames (around 2-3 weeks), WiderFunnel works with an impressive roster of clients including Electronic Arts, Intel, SAP and other Fortune 500 companies as well as many other smaller companies around the world.
There’s no doubt in my mind that WiderFunnel is a world-leader in conversion optimization. I’m proud to be on this team.
The Previous Company – Snaptech Marketing
Snaptech Marketing is also a great web design and internet marketing company. I loved the fact that when a new client was introduced, the team’s goal was to improve their business through online efforts, not just create a pretty picture for people to like online. This is still their focus.
They have a great team which has improved businesses for endless clients. My role there covered a wider area in the Internet marketing arena. I was doing SEO, PPC, analytics, conversion optimization for several clients. (A very talented individual has now joined to continue improving on this sense.)
The Snaptech team is a solid one. I would recommend them both as an employer and as a service provider.
So what does this change mean for me?
Yes, this means a moderate retreat from SEO & PPC and an ultra-focus on advancing and learning testing methods to improve website visitors to buy more, download more, contact more, etc.
It’s not a career change. but I’m now focused like I’ve never been before in a very fascinating field – conversion optimization.
This does not mean that I’ll abandon SEO, Social media and the rest. But you’ll definitely see a more focused theme on this blog posts and tweets.
So there, how about that for some news? 🙂
