“They must often change, who would be constant in happiness or wisdom.” Confucius
You may have noticed that I have been quiet for a while. The last few months have spawned a few big (I mean, huge) changes in my life, which I’m now ready to share.
The first change I will describe in this post is that, I have a new job!
Before I describe my new position, a few words about my last. After almost 3 years at Cardinal Path, I am truly grateful of having been part of that team. I was able to skyrocket my understanding and knowledge of the digital measurement space, work and help great clients and meet fantastic people.
Basically, my career was taken to yet another level while my time at Cardinal Path. It was no perfect place (like every other organization) but in the end, the good outweighed the shortcomings.
Thank you Cardinal Path!
Now about my new position.
Consider these things about me (you may or may not know):
- I love analytics and conversion optimization.
- I’ve been studying the Japanese language for the last year or so as to be able to work with Japanese companies.
- Like many squash players, I developed preferences for a shoe brand: ASICS.
Why do I point these traits out? Because my new job is… Ecommerce Conversion Optimization Lead for ASICS! The office is in Tokyo.
I have been in this position since February this year. My role is to assist ASICS Global and the regions to implement effective conversion optimization strategies and measure their success. To the risk of sounding somewhat geeky I must say, this is awesome!
I was lucky enough to encounter this opportunity and be able to take it… I feel very lucky!
Yes, a huge change! But like the saying goes, the biggest regrets are not things you did, but those you didn’t do. So I have been living in Japan since February.
I still think Canada as my new home (along with Venezuela) and think I’ll eventually come back one day. But for now, my future is in Japan. And who knows what life will throw at me.
Wish me luck!

Jose,
You are the man! Amazing!
I am extremely impressed. You have demonstrated in fine form that when you put what you want out there, sometimes you just damn well receive it.
I look forward to connecting with you again in Japan in the near future amigo!
Until then, take care
