What is a “tweetup”? Regardless of how I answer this question, tweetups are a terrifying concept to those of haven’t experienced one … a gathering of nerdy people talking about Twitter and iPhone apps – the horror!
Last Friday I went to a tweetup in Vancouver organized by @netchick and… it’s better if I just show you.
Tweeups are about bringing the online world, offline. They are about getting to know more about the people you follow as well as the ones who follow you; about having an excuse for beer, wine, or lemon water; about strengthening relationships and making new ones.
Tweeups are about promoting your accomplishment, sharing new ideas, concepts, and mix work with play.
Tweetups are a good place to debate and add personality to your point of view.
This is what social media is about, relationships. If you don’t bring your online world offline, then you’re only tapping into a fraction of the online world potential. You can check out the next big Tweetup at www.vancouvertweetup.com.
I wonder, what are your thoughts on Tweetups? Have you ever been to one?
